10-Year Impact Statements
All healthy nonprofits strive to accurately define their mission, vision, and core values, but often, these overarching declarations do not provide a clear statement of impact to drive the organization – staff, Board, and donors – toward measurable results. To help move forward, LBH will work together to build a 10-Year Impact Statement: 1) in a targeted, measurable way; 2) underpin the next strategic plan; and 3) create a clear picture of the “perfect” state of a nonprofit in 10 years to motivate all stakeholders.
Building on the exceptional efforts of the staff, Board, and committees, we’ll work together to clearly understand – through data analysis – the state in which the nonprofit currently exist and how they’ve “trended” over the past three years. We’ll discuss the ongoing, healthy growth needed by the nonprofit, the Nonprofit Life Cycle and its current place in it, and the opportunity for the Board to continue to grow. Then LBH will share the ways we usually see nonprofits grow, and we’ll guide robust discussion with the Board and senior staff as to how they believe the nonprofit SHOULD grow and what a “perfect” organization would look like in the next decade.
Through three working sessions, the nonprofit will get an idea of any growth the leaders are firmly against and which growth might constitute the best 10-year future state for them. At the end of each session, we’ll take away some “emotional” homework – to really marinate on what we’ve heard/learned, our beliefs about the nonprofit, and what our community truly needs to receive from the organization. This is vitally important, leadership-driven work for the future of nonprofits!
